Labour candidate Johan Adamson has said that only her party will stand up for working people and Trade Unions in Scotland and the UK.

Ms Adamson said a number of candidates in this byelection will claim to be progressive but only Labour has the commitment and links with the Trade Union movement to create a fair working environment for all employees.

She pointed out that Labour’s 2017 UK manifesto was widely welcomed within the trade union movement, and Richard Leonard and Jeremy Corbyn were recognised as defenders of trade unions.

She said that a future Labour government at UK level will legislate to empower trade unions, asking other parties like the SNP and Green to back this programme.

Ms Adamson said, “in a world of zero hours contracts, wage stagnation and lack of trade union protection, workers need a strong government, committed to serving their interests, and this is what Labour under Corbyn will do as it is determined to help unions play a bigger role in the economy, both north and south of the border”
